Do you have any update on Knowledge mobilization activities(Publications, events) in your city network?
Notre proposition d’atelier sur la Ville sanctuaire dans le cadre de la 20e Conférence Nationale Metropolis à Calgary du 22 au 24 mars, 2018 a été acceptée.

The title of our 90 minutes workshop is : A Comparative and Pan-Canadian Study on the Implementation of the Principles of the Sanctuary City, and is scheduled on March 23rd, 2018.

Chedly Belkhodja, Gabrielle Désilets, Concordia University/BMRC-IRMU Partnership and Florence Bourdeau, TCRI are co-organizers, and many of the panel participants are co-investigators or collaborators from the BMRC-IRMU Partnership (Véronique Lamontagne, Dir. Interim, BINAM; Harald Bauder, Professor & Graduate Program Director (ISS) Ryerson U., Mireille Paquet, Assistant Professor, Concordia University).

With an unprecedented number of displaced people around the globe, and a precarious political climate south of the border, many Canadian cities already have, or are considering declaring themselves sanctuary cities. Toronto and Montreal, along with other major immigrant-receiving urban centers will share their projects and prospects on this promising, yet highly complex framework. Presenter are asked to share a project, a research, a policy strategy, action plan in their respective sector. The presentations will be followed by a general discussion of the main common points and priorities, and how these preoccupations could be best supported by a pan-Canadian research project developed within the framework of BMRC-IRMU. The focus will rest on the resilience of undocumented people themselves, but also on the resilience of host communities and institutions that must deal with issues related the undocumented migrants and precarious legal statuses in urban centers across Ontario, Quebec, and other Canadian provinces.

Chedly Belkhodja participera à une Table ronde et discussion autour de l’ouvrage « Vivre ensemble à Montréal. Épreuves et convivialités » paru chez Atelier 10.
Cet évènement aura lieu le 1er février 2018 – 16 h 00 à 18 h 00 à l’INRS–Urbanisation Culture Société, situé au 385, rue Sherbrooke Est (Montréal).

Les invités viendront discuter des enjeux liés à la diversité à Montréal en 2018. Cet événement est organisé par le réseau Villes Régions Monde et fait suite à la parution de l’ouvrage « Vivre ensemble à Montréal. Épreuves et convivialités » (Atelier 10, décembre 2017) sous la direction de Valérie Amiraux, Annick Germain et Julie-Anne Boudreau.
