Tenzin Chime

Tenzin Chime is a Tibetan, born and raised in Nepal. As a youth activist, Chime was involved in grassroots organizing for the Tibetan freedom movement against Chinese occupation of Tibet. Chime has also interned with non-profits in Nepal that advocate for the rights of children and survivors of human trafficking. Currently, Chime is pursuing her undergraduate degree in Political Science, Psychology and Diaspora & Transnational Studies at the University of Toronto. 

Chime is passionate about grassroots community work and foregrounding community perspectives in research. Her recent work includes a community-based study that explores transformative resilience through migrant organizing in the Greater Toronto Area, and a participatory action research on housing affordability and gentrification in Parkdale. 

Chime has used theatre, filmmaking and carpet weaving in her community arts work with Made in Exile, where she co-designed and delivered programs for Tibetan youth in Toronto. In these creative spaces, Chime has experienced first-hand the power of storytelling in the exploration and expression of identity.
