Recently, the federal government relaxed rules capping the number of hours that international students could work while enrolled as full-time students. Join us for a panel discussion about the expected impacts of the new policy from the perspectives of university researchers, service providers and international student advocates. Panelists will outline the recent policy change, speculate about its impacts on students’ academic success, quality of life, and transition to permanent residence, and recommend ways to mitigate any adverse effects of the policy.

The panelists include Sutama Ghosh, Toronto Metropolitan University, Bipin Kumar, Canadian Federation of Students, Randall Martin, British Columbia Council of International Education, Myriam Mekni, Catholic Centre for Immigrants, Ottawa, Mikal Skuterud, University of Waterloo, and Arun Thangaraj, IRCC.
