Cultural Diversity Manager for the City of Gatineau

Cristian Penca is Cultural Diversity Manager for the City of Gatineau. He is responsible for guiding the Regional Issue Table on Immigration and Cultural Diversity (host society, immigrants and Indigenous peoples) in Gatineau and also sits on the steering committee of the Réseau des municipalités en immigration et relations interculturelles [network of municipalities in immigration and intercultural relations] (RÉMIRI), which is comprised of the largest Quebec cities: Gatineau, Montréal, Québec, Longueuil, Laval, Sherbrooke and Saguenay. Cristian has a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters of Public Administration from the National School of Public Administration (ENAP), and has more than 15 years of experience in cultural diversity management at all levels of government (provincial, federal and municipal). Cristian is motivated by a desire to ask important questions about inclusion practices for men and women of all origins, question prevention practices, encourage citizen participation, create an open dialogue for all, to end prejudice and dispel the fear of the unknown that hinders human understanding.
