PhD candidate in Information Science at the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto
Cansu Ekmekcioglu is a PhD candidate in Information Science at the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto, where she is part of the Third Space Lab in the Department of Computer Science. His research focuses on human-machine interaction (HMI), information and knowledge management, and the social involvement of data systems and artificial intelligence. His current work focuses on the use of information and digital technologies in post-migration service environments in Canada, Turkey and the MENA region. As a researcher, Cansu is motivated by empowering non-dominant, under-represented and marginalized communities by designing information and new technologies that positively impact their lives. She is affiliated with the Center for Refugee Studies (CRS) at York University, a member of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS & T) and the Design Research Society.
